Trying to pack and move your chandelier
can be a troublesome task. Depending on the size and the complexity
of your chandelier, it may be useful to have one or two people
helping you.
The first step would be to remove the
power and slowly remove the chandelier onto a thick towel or a
blanket. Be sure to keep all of the nails and screws in a safe place
where you know that you won't lose them! Depending on your
chandelier, remove any dangling and removable pieces. Such as
individual crystals, light bulbs, shades, etc. With each individual
piece, I recommend wrapping them up in soft pieces of cloth and
putting them in their own individual box. Be sure not to use printed
newspaper or the ink may rub onto the pieces and leave stain on your
precious pieces.
Now you should be left with the lamp
itself. You can either wrap the whole think with towels and blankets
and securing it with tape. Or you may want to purchase bubble wrap
and wrapping the lamp with three layers of it. The safest way to move
your chandelier will be to put it back in its original packing
material. However most people wouldn't hold onto that. Measure the
size of your chandelier and find a box that's big enough for it. Fill
big gaps with towels or blankets and fill the rest with other
packaging material.
Hope these tips will help you and your
beloved chandelier on your next move!
